Esbat Cake

This is the Esbat Cake recipe that I use.


  • Two and one-quarter cups Flour
  • One and one-half cups sugar
  • One-half teaspoon salt
  • One teaspoon baking powder
  • One and one-half teaspoons baking soda
  • One-half teaspoon ground cloves
  • One-half teaspoon crushed coriander seeds
  • One and one-quarter teaspoons cinnamon
  • One and one-quarter cups buttermilk
  • One egg
  • One half cup melted butter

Pre-heat oven to 350°. In large mixing bowl, sift togetherthe flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cloves, coriander, and cinnamon. Stir in buttermilk, egg, and cool melted butter. Mix well until the batter is smooth. Pour batter into a greased baking pan. Bake for one hour. Let stand for twenty minutes.
